A 3-day design thinking boot camp was held at Prime International on 19-21 April 2019. The first batch of design thinking graduates will be able to solve their problems creatively in their daily lives.
A big thank you to our coach, Tay Vui Kit for delivering such informative workshop to our students with an all-out effort.
Design thinking is a process of creative problem solving - using innovation to develop a product or service by understanding the root of the problem. It involves observing and developing empathy with the target user through questioning: questioning the problem, questioning the assumptions and questioning the implications. Design thinking is re-framing the problem in human-centric methods - creating ideas in brainstorming sessions, and adopting hands-on approach in prototype and testing.
Secondary students at Prime International will be able to experience this enrichment program as part of their curriculum. The design thinking approach is valuable; students will be stressing their imagination and generating ideas as part of their critical thinking skill. It develops the need for each child to always maintain an open mind when defining problems and creating prototypes until they have generated a viable solution. Failure and frustration are a natural part of the process thus students learn resiliency through the concept of “failing forward”. In this innovative curriculum, students work in teams to build process-based skills, including communication, prototyping, empathy and collaboration, as they solve real-life problems.
We will be having another design thinking boot camp open to everyone that's 15-18 years old on 20-22 September 2019. Please register through the google form below.
